This was the largest InfoComm Show ever; not just the biggest in Orlando, it was the biggest ever. That is saying something since the Vegas years tend to be more heavily attended. However, this year, Orlando took the prize. Sitting at just over 35,000 attendees and almost 1,000 exhibitors, this year’s show was not one to miss.
As most of the InfoComm staff will tell you, it’s not all about the numbers. Yes, they are nice, but it really is about the education and the connections attendees and exhibitors were experiencing. More than one company relayed the story of closing significant deals on the show floor. Put that with the number of CTS certifications (237, a record for on0-site certifications) and education happening throughout the week, and you have yourself one successful show.
AVNation was there as well. We were honored to produce the InfoComm Today podcasts all three days. We talked with the major sponsors, Blackmagic Design, Christie, and Crestron, as well as brought you some “person-0n-the-street” interviews and some award winners. In addition, we were on the show floor interviewing exhibitors as well as bringing some to our recording space. Check out AVWeek this week and next for our two hour roundtable with our regular cast of guests, and some new ones as well. On Thursday, we hosted the largest AVTweeps Tweetup ever. It was all thanks to a great team lead by Kelly Perkins and our sponsors; Vaddio, Chief, Draper, AV Helpdesk, Chauvet, LifeSize, Listen, Marketing Matters, The Source Home Theater, Sennheiser, and Premiere Mounts. It was a blast.
So, to all of you who joined us in Orlando, whether we physically met or not, thank you. Thank you for making this the biggest InfoComm ever. It is a sign that the economy is bouncing back, companies are ready to make deals, and we are really building a vibrant industry. To those who didn’t make it, we will see you next year in Las Vegas.
