AV Sports

The Fall is usually an interesting time in the Albright household. The kids have started back to school, the air is getting cooler and the sports mix in our lives gets a bit more exciting. Like a number of you, my kids play sports and Fall is soccer season for us. It is also the return of my own beloved sports pastime, football.
Football is not for everyone, which is really what makes the Fall unique. It is in these two or three months that you have nearly every sport available to the casual fan and fanatic alike. You have the option of football from high school to pro, hockey returns, basketball, and of course baseball. Baseball is winding down its 100-plus game season as the rest gear up for theirs.
The question you may be asking yourself at this point is, why is he writing about sports in an AV blog. Sports is where we can be real people, show our passions for things other than 4k and connectors. Sports makes instant connections with those who have similar teams, or interesting rivalries with those who don’t.
On most of the shows I host, but AVWeek specifically, I talk about sports and my sports affiliations a fair amount. My favorite football team is the Chicago Bears, for Hockey it is the St. Louis Blues, and the Cardinals for baseball. I am in St. Louis after all. Don’t ask about the Rams. Just don’t. Steve Greenblatt from our State of Control show and Control Concepts is a huge New York Giants football fan. Bradford Benn, a regular guest and a great guy, has a passion for hockey and the New Jersey Devils. Matt Scott is a Dallas Cowboys fan. George Tucker loves the New York Rangers. Craig MacCormack from Commercial Integrator is a fan of all things Boston. He was even there when the Red Sox beat the Cardinals in last year’s World Series. Harry and Dawn Meade have an interesting sports marriage. She is from the Pittsburgh area so the Pirates and the Steelers are her boys. Harry is all about the Ravens. Rich Fregosa is a San Francisco fan through and through. Which is probably why I wrote this blog this week; my Cardinals fell to his Giants and are off to the World Series.
So, we will continue to infuse sports talk into our AV podcasts because it makes us human. It makes us real. It helps us connect with each other and, hopefully, you. Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. Have a great week. And… Go Bears.
