AV Unites in Pittsburgh

The problem: How do we, as AV professionals, make what we do in the audio visual realm impactful? What can we do to advance the industry overall and in our region?
Being a part of a BrightTree Studios, a consultant in the Pittsburgh, PA region, we recognize that there is a wealth of great AV integrators, designers, and consultants. We want to encourage and foster the sense of community among our fellow AV pros. We believe this leads to a more professional product and enhanced relationships, which, in turn, reflects positively to other disciplines like architects, engineers, developers, and owners.
In August of 2014 my colleagues and I saw the myriad of other professional groups in the region like SCRUG, a local Revit user group, SMPS, for marketing professionals to meet and advance their knowledge, but no such group for the AV community. As a result we decided that we would celebrate AV month by creating a user group that unites all industry individuals in our region, regardless of their background, company, or aspirations.
SourceCode AV was born with the goal to bring like minds together to discuss trends, share ideas, and problem-solve. Whether you are a consultant, designer, integrator, programmer, manager, director, manufacturer, or any other kind of AV professional, we want you to come, cast aside your competitive nature, enjoy yourself, and be audio visual geeks with us.
Our inaugural meeting is Wednesday, May 6 at 1 pm at the BrightTree Studios offices in Pittsburgh, PA. The theme of our first gathering will be Technology Trends in Higher Education. We will have a panel of representatives from Crestron, Biamp, and Carnegie Mellon University to answer questions submitted by our attendees and allow us to engage in an open discussion.
We are excited to have attendees already signed up from companies including Dagostino, SoundCom, Synergy Media Group, and RPC Video, as well as several local universities and smaller AV business owners.
While our ultimate goal is to expand SourceCode AV to as many cities as possible and share information, openly, across regions, it has to begin somewhere ,Aei so let it begin here!
Join us on May 6th by signing up here. For those outside the Pittsburgh region but interested in the group we will be live tweeting the event at #SourceCodeAV.
If you want to host a SourceCode AV User Group in your city give us a shout and we,Aeoll share our experience of starting this event and help you get your own community engaged, involved, and promoting the passion of our industry.
