Getting Ready for Las Vegas
I’m liking what my blog has turned into over the last few years. Typically I’ll write about business advice, personal productivity, or ways to make your team better. Every once in a while I will have to step aside and make sure you are aware of some pretty cool things that AVNation is doing. InfoComm 2016 is one of those times.
Let’s begin with things in chronological order.
Tuesday June 7
IST02 AVNation’s Editor-in-Chief, Josh Srago, will be a part of the IoT session on Super Tuesday. You can come listen to him talk about all the great and groovy things that makes IoT a significant part of the commercial AV world.
IST01 9:45 am A live version of AVWeek will take place during the Future Trends session. Moderated by me, we will discuss what technology is dead finally or already dead. Look for some pretty outlandish prognostications.
2:15 I join Pete Putnam, Bill Nattress, and Gary Kayye onstage to answer questions. Moderated by Simon Dudley.
Wednesday June 8
The InfoComm Show floor opens. You can come by our booth at N2821. We’ll have the infamous #AVTweeps stickers all week, several shows being recorded from our booth, and a great time.
IUX02 12:30 – 4:30 George Tucker, myself, and a number of really smart people are going to educate you on network design, commissioning, and troubleshooting when it comes to TSN/AVB. Paul Zielie, the Bradford Benn, Greg Schlecter, and more will show you how to setup a talker, listener, and switch. Plus, they will give us the inside scoop on new and upcoming products using A and V of AVB.
IS20 12:30 – 1:30 Learn the basics and future of control. This class is for technology managers who are just getting into designing or programming control and would like to know what is possible and what is coming down the pipeline.
IS36 2:30 – 4:30 Josh Srago on Government Regulations. If AVB and networking audio and video isn’t your speed, check out Josh Srago talking about how certain US Government rules and regulations will impact what we do.
8:30 – Drunk Unkles concert. AVNation is a proud media sponsor of this event. It’s the annual fund raiser NSCA puts on. This year they are raising money for the Ignite program. If you aren’t familiar with Ignite, click here. It’s a great program to get young people involved in the industry.
Thursday June 9
IS63 12:30 – 1:30 Kim Lancaster from Caster Communications joins me to talk about how to do marketing and PR in only a few hours a week. Originally this session was called “Fire Your PR Person”. As Kim is a fabulous PR professional I wouldn’t recommend firing her per se. But, you could come learn from her years of experience and from my experience gathering a team to do marketing and PR.
4 – 6 pm Room N205/206. The annual AVNation Tweetup. Free food, drink, and networking. Come by and trade business cards with 300 of your closest AV friends. Based on the turn out from last year’s party, we have indeed gotten a “bigger boat”, more food, and drink as well.
Friday June 10
Rest. Rest and relax. Not really, no.
11 am. At the InfoComm Booth we will be debuting the #AVSelfie Video. Hi-Phi, Phil Cordell has outdone himself again and created a great anthem for this year’s show. It’s up to you to take the pictures as you and your colleagues travel to the show, visit booths, and have a great time. Remember to tag #AVSelfie on the social media platform of choice to make sure you get in the video.
2 – 4 pm Booth N2821 we will be recording our flagship program, AVWeek. Come by and join in on the round table discussion or watch.
That’s all for now. We will be adding to it as the weeks go along. Make sure you check out our InfoComm 2016 page for blogs, interviews, specials, and booth tours before, during, and after the show.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. Have a great week.
