Where Do We Go From Here?

AVNation is five years old this week. In late July 2011 George Tucker, Linda Frembes, Michael Drainer, and I sat down to record the first ever episode of AVWeek. We titled it Episode 0000, mainly because I wasn’t quite sure where it was going to go.
Five years later and you our listeners and readers continue to blow me away. From tweets to calls to emails, the feedback we have received since our inception has been nothing short of humbling. Thank you so much for continuing to ride alongside this group of AV professionals as we make our own brand of AV news and information.
Where do we go from here? We are expanding our reach by covering shows like NY Digital Signage Week, ISE, and this year we will add InfoComm India. More about our participation in that show next week. We are learning about how to connect more with you and find out what exactly your pain points are and how we can best help you solve them. Creating a team of listeners and readers to give us advice on where to focus our efforts is also a new initiative we will be rolling out shortly. These are just a few examples of how we are moving forward.
Media is a strange business. I’ve been in it for most of my adult life. I have watched the birth of satellite radio, the blog, and podcasting. All of it is another tool to serve these markets that may not have the mass audience of traditional broadcast television, but the audience is more connected to what we do and what they need out of us than any viewer of the nightly news.
So, thank you for continuing to listen, watch, and read what AVNation produces. I think we have some of the best AV professionals creating content. In the coming weeks and months we’ll be introducing some new ways to let your voice be heard and connect with AVNation.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. Have a great week.
