Let me say first of all that I have eschewed press releases as a news source for the life of AVNation. It’s not that I don’t think they are valuable, but rather because they don’t tell the whole story. Ask any PR person we have a relationship with and they will tell you the same.
Also, AVNation is not a news gathering site. We bring context to the articles and news that other great organizations create. Our board and the line up of guests we have on our shows are all working AV professionals. I think they bring great insight to the conversation and provide you, the audience, a wonderful resource to head off into the field every week.
I also know that I don’t know everything. Learning and adjusting is how I grow and how any business grows. That’s why when our team began talking about creating a press release section of the AVNation site I was reluctant at first. On the other side, the frequency of press release emails were increasing so a great number of conversations and factors rolled up into this decision: we are presenting to you the AVNation Press Gateway.
The main intention of this site is to create one place for companies, organizations, and PR firms to submit their press releases to the new press release section of our site. It is not a rubber stamp of authenticity from AVNation, nor is it to be viewed as such. It is simply another avenue for folks to get their information out there.
If you have press releases to submit, check it out. Let us know what you think. If you like getting the latest press releases from companies we will soon have a new section on our site for you to visit. We think it will be a great service for both those trying to get their story out there as well as our audience as it will allow us to get a good idea of what is coming down the pipeline. It will also give us the chance to have some of these companies on and ask them the same questions you would, which is kind of what we do anyway.
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. Have a great week.
