It is finally here. Our first annual AVNation Awards voting is up and ready for your vote. For anyone who has tried to herd cats, or put together something like this, you know the feeling and frustration of gathering nominations, getting together several advisors, and the wonderful web team that put it all together. But, it is done.
I’ve been asked several times why do an award in the first place. The quick answer is, we have a unique perspective. AVNation is different than most any other audio visual media outlet in that everyone associated with our enterprise still works in the industry. We have programmers, designers, engineers, marketing, consultants, and technicians that make up the ranks of our board, producers, bloggers, and hosts. You get that and that’s why you listen to the podcasts and read the blogs.
The other reason is that awards allow us to give voice to the audience. This is something we don’t do particularly well throughout the year. Yes, we have comments sections on each of our posts and we interact with you on social media and at events. But an award driven by you, the audience, gives you the chance to speak up and say “hey, this was really cool.”
We are not the only award out there and most everybody has a different way of doing it. We are not saying their way is wrong or ours is best. We do things differently at AVNation, and our award process is not different.
So, if you can spare five minutes we would love to know what you think. Check out the awards and let us know who the best instructor or product was for 2016.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. Have a great week.
