Schedule for 2019 released

FISHERS, Indiana –CEDIA has announced an extensive slate of three-day boot camps for 2019. These hands-on sessions offer foundational skills training for experienced and prospective integration professionals. CEDIA will host seven boot camps — Basic Residential, Home Theater, and Advanced Networking options — at its Global Headquarters near Indianapolis between March and December.

“We pack in an exceptional amount of technical knowledge and expertise into each three-day session in our state-of-the-art training facilities,” said CEDIA Senior Vice President of Education and Certification Tom Darling. “Whether home technology integrators are looking to jump-start their career, enhance their skills, or gain a more comprehensive understanding of processes from installation to calibration to maintenance, CEDIA boot camps provide a solution.”

Boot camp dates include:

March 4-6, 2019: Basic Residential boot camp (register)
March 7-9, 2019: Home Theater boot camp (register)
April 1-3, 2019: Advanced Networking boot camp (register)
May 13-15, 2019: Basic Residential boot camp
May 13-15, 2019: Home Theater boot camp
July 15-17, 2019: Advanced Networking boot camp
August 5-7, 2019: Basic Residential boot camp
August 5-7, 2019: Home Theater boot camp
November 11-13, 2019: Basic Residential boot camp
November 11-13, 2019: Home Theater boot camp
December 9-11, 2019: Advanced Networking boot camp

CEDIA continually updates course materials to ensure the boot camps remain on the cutting-edge of ever-changing industry trends and align with current standards.

The Basic Residential Boot Camp focuses on installing low-voltage infrastructure in the home using a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on, laboratory learning that emulates residential new construction and retrofit installation. Skills include: cable and connector fundamentals; residential codes, standards, and jobsite safety; distributed audio and video in the home; and jobsite professionalism.

The Advanced Networking Boot Camp will concentrate on “the backbone of the connected home.” Networking is a rapidly-growing area for the industry and CEDIA instructors will address topics and provide guidance critical to delivering successful projects. Skills include: advanced home networking with VLAN and QoS; IP communication; wireless network design; residential network security for wireless and VPN applications; and secure remote network access.

The Home Theater Boot Camp will provide the skills advanced pros need to be effective and efficient on the home theater jobsite. Participants will gain the knowledge and expertise to properly install, set up, and calibrate a typical home theater or media room system. Skills include: understanding the digital and analog signals and formats in current audio and video systems; basics of room acoustics, acoustical treatment, and sound transmission issues; installing components in a professional rack configuration; proper documentation and labeling; installing/mounting a projector, flat-panel display, and loudspeakers according to industry standards; basic audio and video calibration .
