Booth 2043 – Though the Samsung booth is huge and packed with tons of great solutions, AV Nation’s Tim Albright was awestruck by Samsung’s 8K video display. Mario DiAntonio says that finding 8K content is a challenge, but Samsung is addressing that. The AI processor included within the display actually upscales 1080 or 4K content to make it 8K, so that the level of detail and color depth on the video screen is actually 8K equivalent content, even i the content wasn’t shot in 8K. Machine learning also measures the quality of the content, and then makes changes so that the next image is even better. The color scale, lumens, gray gradation are all measured and then the system changes its own algorithm to self-correct.
A single 8K panel allows for fewer failure points than a standard 2×2 video wall, DiAntonio points out. There is no alignment of panels or seams. He also mentions that command and control centers where detail matters is a great use case for this product, which is available now.

AVNation is a collective of audiovisual professionals. Our hosts, panelists, writers, and producers all work in the AV industry in some capacity. That gives us a unique perspective on the industry and allows us to ask questions end users, technology managers, IT managers, and AV integrators would ask. Our coverage of InfoComm 2019 comes from these points of view. Everything we are able to do is made possible by our supporters who provide the financial support for AVNation. We are always looking for new voices. If you want to have your point of view heard contact us by clicking here. Let us know who you are and what you have to say.
