Beyond the Conference Room: Shure’s AV Innovation Hits the Court

At NAB Show 2025, AVNation.tv’s Tim Albright talked with Ryan Budvitis from Shure to explore how the brand is reimagining its renowned array microphone technology beyond the boardroom.

In a surprising twist, the conversation took place on a basketball court—an unconventional space to highlight the capabilities of Shure’s conferencing solutions. Ryan explained how their advanced audio algorithms, originally designed for meeting rooms, are now being adapted to capture immersive sounds in sports environments—like the squeak of sneakers on hardwood and the swish of the net.

“This is all about taking the Shure technology we know and love from the conference room and applying it in new, dynamic environments like sports and entertainment,” said Budvitis.

Shure also showcased its Intellimix Room DSP system, bridging the gap between conferencing and broadcast. As AV, conferencing, and broadcast workflows continue to converge, solutions like these are empowering clients to operate seamlessly across platforms—whether it’s Microsoft Teams calls or high-end productions.

This crossover isn’t new for Shure. “Look at the SM58—originally designed for the studio, it became the mic for live performances,” Ryan noted.
