At NAB Show 2025, AVNation’s Tim Albright chatted with Joshua Rush, CMO of Audinate, to dive into Dante’s expanding role in the broadcast space. While many in the AV world recognize Dante as a staple in installed audio systems, Rush pulled back the curtain on how the technology is transforming modern broadcast workflows.
From OB Vans to Cloud Production—Dante is Everywhere
Whether it’s live production trucks, studio control rooms, or remote broadcasting setups, Dante is quickly becoming the go-to protocol for IP-based audio and video transport. As Rush explained, “More and more broadcasters are using Dante to get audio and video from point A to point B with precision and flexibility.” And with the accelerating shift to IP, the need for seamless integration is more important than ever.
APIs and Control—A Game-Changer for Broadcast Integration
One of the standout discussions centered on Dante’s open API strategy. Broadcasters and integrators alike can now plug Dante control into their own centralized workflow platforms. With tools like Dante Controller and Dante Domain Manager, users gain full visibility and routing control—critical for high-stakes production environments.
Dante Connect: Taking Broadcast to the Cloud
Perhaps the biggest announcement was Dante Connect, Audinate’s cloud-based solution enabling broadcasters to lift on-prem Dante signals into the cloud. This innovation allows for centralized production and remote mixing, reducing the need for on-site gear and personnel. Integrated with major platforms like Grass Valley, Calrec, and SSL, Dante Connect signals a major shift in cloud-based AV production.
“We’re working with everyone—from broadcasters to top-tier integrators like ASG and Diversified—to reimagine what AV over IP can do in broadcast,” said Rush.
Award-Winning Innovation
And it’s not just industry insiders taking notice—Dante recently won the AVNation Readers’ Choice Award, cementing its place as a broadcast tech leader.
