Starin fundraiser for military vets with PTSD

Company partnering with New Horizons Service Dogs

Chesterton, IN — Starin, specializing in the market development of digital communication solutions, is pleased to announce a fundraising campaign to culminate at InfoComm 2019.

Starin has partnered with New Horizons Service Dogs, a not-for-profit agency that raises and trains specialty Service Dogs.  The #StarinCares fundraiser is focused on raising enough funds to provide a Service Dog to a Military Veteran with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

“This is a fundraising event that I have been planning for the better part of a year,” says Malissa Dillman, Learning Experience Manager, Starin.  She goes on to say, “While there are so many great charitable causes that I would love to support, I feel that as the AV Industry we work to provide opportunities to Military Veterans where and when we can.  Starin employees several Veterans.”

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that can occur after you have been through a traumatic event.  During this type of event, you think that your life or other’s lives are in danger.  You may feel afraid or feel that you have no control over what is happening.  A Specially Trained PTSD Dog can provide a sense of security and a calming effect that can make a difference in the life of a Veteran that suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

New Horizons Service Dogs is located in central Florida and relies solely on the generosity of donations.  Raising a specially trained Service Dog is their mission.  The costs for housing, feeding, and medical expenses for raising a puppy and then providing specialized training to aid the recipient can amount to $30,000 per dog.  This is often a two-year process and not all of the puppies will make the grade.  We are hoping through the generous support of our AV Industry Family, we will be able to raise $30,000 and present it to the New Horizons organization at InfoComm 19.  New Horizons will then provide a service dog to a Veteran in need in Florida.  Often times there is a 1-2 year waiting list to for this type of Service Dog.

Attendees can stop by the Starin booth next to the main entrance of the show and visit with a handler to learn more about Service Dogs and how they have a positive impact on recipients lives.

Want to join us in making a difference? Starin Cares is raising money to benefit New Horizons Service Dogs Inc, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to all of us.  All donations are made through the Go Fund Me campaign and are tax deductible.
