The system automatically closes the water main the moment a leak is detected to prevent catastrophic water damage
BlackWire Designs has announced that the company is now offering the Guardian Leak Prevention System. Simple to install in minutes without the need for a plumber, the system automatically closes the water main the moment a leak is detected to prevent catastrophic water damage.
“Without leak detection, property owners don’t realize they have an issue until it’s already too late. This is especially problematic in vacation homes and other properties that can sit unoccupied for extended periods,” said Kevin Luther, owner of BlackWire Designs. “With the Guardian Leak Prevention System, integrators can provide their customers with peace of mind knowing that immediate action will be taken when the first drop is detected, stopping leaks before any damage can occur and eliminating the expense of repairs and hassle of insurance claims.”
A Guardian system consists of a Valve Controller, one or more Leak Detectors, and optional Remote Sensor Probes. The Valve Controller easily installs over an existing quarter-turn metal ball from 0.5 inches to 1.25 inches without any tools and features a splash-resistant housing. The device connects to the Wi-Fi network, eliminating the need for a hub and allowing users to monitor and control the system from anywhere in the world on their mobile devices via the Guardian app — no monitoring fee required.
For installation flexibility, Leak Detectors sense water using five different points of detection and can be located up to 1,000 feet away from the Valve Controller, making them ideal for monitoring toilets, sump pumps, water heaters, sinks, drains, and more for leaks and floods. The detectors feature a long average battery life of 15 years. Optional Remote Sensor Probes extend the reach of Leak Detectors to monitor hard-to-reach or tight spaces.
“Guardian by Elexa is excited to team up with BlackWire to bring the custom installation market the first-ever solution that not only detects and alerts homeowners to potential water damage, but automatically shuts off the water main,” said Jonathan Storino, director of sales and marketing of Guardian by Elexa. “For integrators, working with the company is a completely unique experience, like having a technology partner that understands all of their needs — from hardware and implementation to product availability.”
The Guardian Leak Prevention System is available from BlackWire as a kit, which bundles a Valve Controller with one or three Leak Detectors, or components can be purchased individually to build a system a la carte. Available now, the kits start at $199.
