For once, our editor is baffled. Is 82 a good score for golf? We’re not here to discuss backswings, we’re here to talk about the upswings and downswings of the residential side of the AV inudstry! Joining us this week is MSE Audio’s President Shannon Humphrey and Chief Content Officer for CE Pro Jason Knott.

We start off by looking at the advent of home solutions working with the Matter protocol. Through different standards like Zigbee, Z-Wave and even Matter, home can use the Internet of Things (IoT) to manage their smart home systems. Standardization is the new name of the game, and Matter looks to unify those standard to let all IoT devices together. At what point will our space look at these protocols as viable solutions for a project? Looking at the road ahead for Matter in residential.

According to integrators and small businesses in the midst of the pandemic, “Sony literally helped keep me in business during the supply chain situation.” Ignoring the thought that it makes it sound like supply chain issues are over, and maybe also aversion to overuse of “literally”, we discuss what manufacturers and dealers can do for their clients in times of turmoil.

CEDIA Expo 2023, set for September 6-9 in Denver, is set to feature an array of events and opportunities for networking in the integration community. This includes but is not limited to the CEDIA Member Reception, AV Yoga, and The Women in Consumter Technology Networking Reception & Luncheon. Part of a trade show’s value not only is to see innovative technology, but reach out and meet those within your industry. Are events like these held at CEDIA Expo the bridges that can bring people together?

Google is starting to transfer Nest Secure systems over to ADT. As Google does, it is dropping support, this time for Nest Secure and Dropcam home security systems. Those customers will be moved over to ADT, who partnered with Google back in 2020. What does this mean for end-users who were looking to avoid those larger security firms?
