AVWeek 627: Done, Done, Done

Done & Done (But Also, Done)

We’re back in the studio! Almost at full working order. But even if we were hosting through a tin can, or making the editor do it (as with ResiWeek) we are committed to bringing you the latest news and stories for the commercial side of the AV industry. Joining us this week is Senior Product Marketing Manager for Q-SYS Mike Brandes, Client Success Manager for Control Concepts Brittany DiCesare and AV Veteran Dawn Meade.

The University of Hertfordshire has implemented Q-SYS solutions into their learning space. The biggest renovation came through their lecture theatre, turning it into a dynamic learning space for both in-person and remote students. Not only do we have someone from Q-SYS, but Tim and Mike have backgrounds in higher education, especially for technology managers. As such we discuss how AV can work together to leverage technology like this in different spaces.

We don’t usually report causalities here, but Verizon has announced the death (or decommission rather) of their BlueJeans unified communications platform. Part of the reason they give is Microsoft’s dominance within the UC space. Is Microsoft just too big to fail? What this means for the UC space.

AV Technology looks at 13 AV control solutions for integrators to be aware of. There might be some bias in choosing the stories since Tim is, by his own words, ‘a failed control systems programmer.’ We look at the future of control programming as it stands in the industry.
