They Have The Goods

It is CEDIA Expo week, which might be why Tim is dressed to the nines. That being said, this particular show is all about the commercial side of the AV industry. With us is Global Services Manager for Verrex and at the time of recording birthday girl Charmaine Tourella, AV Veteran and founder of Shinnovate Mike Shinn, and VP of Sales for SAVI Controls Byron Baird as we have a look at what’s going on in the world of AV.

NEC Display Solutions has brought out the latest version of their MediaPlayer for digital signage solutions. This kit comes pre-installed on their own Raspberry Pi module. IT technology like the Raspberry Pi has a wealth of uses for anyone in AV. How can integrators leverage that for AV applications?

Ricoh has announced they have acquired the German integrator DataVision. Just to be clear, Ricoh is a manufacturer while DataVision is an integrator. Can you play both sides of the field this way? Taking out the potential ethical complications, is this even a viable business strategy? Looking at what led Ricoh to make this purchase and how it will be handled moving forward.

Christie Digital was involved with the United Launch Alliance’s rocket mapping of the Delta IV Heavy rocket at Cape Canaveral. Not only is this a really cool project, it is something that AV is well equipped to assist in. How can integrators get in on the ground floor for large scale projects like this?
