What’s In A Name?

Is it getting a bit chilly in here? No matter the weather, we will weather the storm that is the influx of news coming out of the commercial side of the AV industry. Joining us this week is host of our own show The IT Factor Frank Padikkala, Regional Sales Manager for Shure Cassie Berger and man of many talents (Co-Founder of HETMA, Director of Learning Environments at USC & host of the Higher Ed AV Podcast) Joe Way.

Panasonic has just announced they will be cancelling their physical attendance at the upcoming InfoComm 2021 in June. The company instead will be planning other ways to gather with their community during the event. As we move forward, will this cause more companies to drop out? Is June just too early to commit to a physical event? And if it is, what can AVIXA do in this situation? Discussing what might be in store for the industry moving forward.

By the end of January it will have been three years of the weekly morning discussion #AVintheAM started and led by Chris Neto. Even before the pandemic started, this has been a place for the AV community to come together and make conversations and make connections. Now, it has become one of the few ways that some of us actually get to see each other with event cancelled or put online. With that in mind, is there even a possibility to make a community in the virtual space? How can we keep up with each other when we aren’t together physically?

Hall Research are rebranding themselves as Hall Technologies, putting a higher focus on AV solutions. Rebrands aren’t something just made without a thought, it usually takes plenty of work to figure out where the company is headed and how to reflect that position in the name and branding moving forward. But is it worth it? Can something as simple as a name change or logo update make or break customers? Looking at what goes into a rebranding and how to make that transition for integrator and consumer as smooth as possible.
