Hidden Treasures
Is it warm and sunny, or cold and rainy? No matter what inconsistent weather the midwest can bring, rest assured that our coverage of the commercial side of the AV industry can be a constant in your life. Joining us this week is Executive Vice President for AtlasIED Matt Czyzewski, Middle Atlantic Vice President & General Manager Tim Troast and AV Manager for Henderson Engineers Erica Williams.
A Sikh employee for Exertis is seeking damages for harassment during his employment totalling £6.6m. He suffered years of racial discrimination and disruption during his time at the Basingstoke office. Exertis is a tech company and marginally adjacent to the AV industry, but stories like this cause us to give pause and reflect on conditions in our own space. Diversity is an important part of the AV industry, especially as companies in the space grow globally. How can we stop situations like this happening altogether? And should one happen, what can be done to swiftly deal with instances of prejudice and malice in the workplace?
InfoComm 2021 is coming up faster than any of us realize, as that October 23rd date looms closer. Megan Dutta of AV Network sat down with AVIXA’s Senior VP of exhibition and event services Rochelle Richardson talking about the health and safety precautions present for the show. We take the time to discuss their discussion and what this means for the show. Is this all above board for a safe in-person show in the fall? Could our new awareness of viruses and hygenic practices beat the ever present “con crud” that comes with going to trade shows?
Speaking of in-person events, The trade show cavlo (lack of capitalization intentional) welcomed 200 attendees to their inaugural event in Las Vegas just this month in May. Could we see a trend of regional shows like this rather than the big hitters that hope to net five digits worth of attendees? Discussing the live event space as we slowly make our way back into the outer world.
