Look Upon My Works And Despair

Get it while it’s hot! And what’s hot is the latest news coming out of the commercial side of the AV industry. Joining us in the discussion of these stories is AV Consultant at Newcomb & Boyd Gladys Marroquin, Director of LED Sales Support for Barco Todd McCandless, and Founder of Advisist and potentially man who just wandered onto the set Bradford Benn.

It was just announced on Friday that Randy Klein, President and CEO of Crestron would be retiring this year. He took over those positions 8 years ago after the passing of Founder George Feldstein. His son Daniel Feldstein, the current Chairman and COO will assume the role of CEO and President in this move. Is this the sign of the end of an era? What’s going to happen as we start to see icons like this leave our space, and do we have the right spots in line to bring up the next generation? Looking at the impact this will have on the industry moving forward.

Windows 11 is coming. For some it’s like a storm looming on the horizon, especially when they announced the integration of Teams fully within the system. In addition to this engineering, they announced they will be able to run iOS and Android apps natively with Windows 11. What impact will this have on developers of solutions for these systems? Does this change the design structure for AV in any way?

Earlier this year, the assets of the Digital Signage Expo were acquired by Questex. They are now announcing the dates for DSE 2022, set for March 21-23 of next year. It will be taking place concurrently with the Bar & Restaurant Expo. After a two-year hiatus, can we expect manufacturers to make it to this show? Is there a specific audience that this show should cater to in an post-pandemic space? Discussing what this return means for the industry at large.
