Treading Waters With Weights

Even if the news isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, we’re still covering the commercial side of the AV industry. To elaborate further we are joined by AVSocial Host Dawn Meade, Senior Technology Specialist at Otterbein University Willie Franklin and President of D’Angelo and Associates Joey D’Angelo.

The big purchases continue. If Crestron acquiring 1 Beyond wasn’t enough, HP has announced they are acquiring Poly. This purchase is stated by HP CEO Enrqiue Lores to originate from the rise of the hybrid office space. What does this mean for a company like Poly who went from being the merging company to getting bought up themselves? Looking at what it means for these businesses and the greater AV industry as a whole moving forward.

The chip shortage is a situation that has had a lot of play in the past year. Due to a wonderful domino effect of supply chain shortages, a global pandemic and droughts in specific manufacturing countries, products are not getting made as fast as they were before. Every tech space has been affected by this schism, especially the AV industry. Is there a way out of this hole? Can we all be the shining beacon of optimism like Dawn Meade? Looking at the current chip shortage situation and how integrators might be able to navigate the proverbial knee-high waters and what it will take to come back.
