We are here to bring you the latest news coming out of the commercial side of the AV industry. And since it’s still only the start of the school semester it may be fitting we have some higher education aficionados in our panel of experts. Joining us this week is President & Owner of Franklin DJ & Event Services Willie Franklin and Assistant Director of AV Services for the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine James King.

Last week, Crestron held a number of Town Halls focused specifically on the effects of the supply chain issues present in all technology sectors. CEO Dan Feldstein, EVP of Marketing Brad Hintze and COO Dan Brady sat down and not only addressed these concerns with a remarkable candidacy, but also took questions about their current situation. What does it speak that a manufacturer like Crestron is being so transparent about their struggle to meet demands of the clients? What does this mean for distributors and integrators who are still working to get projects complete?

 Audinate has announced full support for Dante-enabled video through their Dante Domain Manager software. This new version, v1.4 allows the use of PTZ cameras, HDMI encoders & decoders as well as the suite of tools in within Dante Studio. AV over IP systems have been making huge strides, especially in the midst of these supply chain shortages. These systems allow for video to make its way across huge spaces like campuses or corporate offices. We discuss the appetite for systems like this as integrators essentially have to work with what they already have.

Finally, we ask how to prepare for failure before it happens. This story stems from a recent incident where the SoFi Stadium, home of the ill-received (at least for AVNation’s home base, St. Louis) Los Angeles Rams had an outage of their otherwise outstanding Samsung display above the field. Barring a Minority Report situation, clairvoyance is not a suitable strategy for most integrators. This is more about having a plan to combat these situations when they arise, and have the necessary tools such as Uninterruptible Power Supplies or redundant systems to fix these problems with immediacy. Looking at how to prepare for the inevitable catastrophe and be ready to jump in without hesitation.
