AVWeek 595: Artificially Smart

Why Was I Programmed To Feel Pain?!

Hey, who let that Bradford guy back in? Whoever our host is, you should know that we’ve got a smattering of news for the commercial side of the AV industry. And joining this Florida man is Malissa Dillman from Zoom, Systems Design Engineer for Extron Electronics Chris Bach and Managing Director for WLJ Consulting Ace Johnson.

Last week was CES 2023, one of the biggest shows showcasing innovative technology across several verticals. As its namesake, the Consumer Electronics Show would imply, It is a very consumer-facing show. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have something for integrators to be excited about. While we were more interested in BMW’s concept car that could change colors, we also took the question about the panel and asked them what solutions they saw that were most exciting. Discussing the potential of artificial intelligence, automotive enhancements and more.

Speaking of artificial intelligence, Microsoft is in talks to invest ten billion dollars for funding of OpenAI. OpenAI is a research and development company that uses AI to generate things such as text through ChatGPT and even images through Dall-E. Will AI or machine learning have a place in the AV industry?
