A Cold Day In Hello, ClickShare
It’s time to look at the latest news and stories surrounding the commercial side of the AV industry. We are joined this week by Empress of Integration for Allen & Heath Samantha Potter, Telecommunications Analyst for Rutgers University Bill O’Donnell and Vice President of Sales and Operations for Nationwide AV Brock McGinnis.
Extron has announced they are shipping the VCA 100 Virtual Control Appliance. As the name implies, this system helps companies deploy, scale and manage AV systems through a central location and manage those control options through virtual control processors. Where do these kinds of systems fit best in the AV space? Is this the end of the ‘Black Box’ of AV?
Barco and Crestron announced a global patent license agreement surrounding ClickShare. This allows Crestron to utilize some of Barco’s patents for their collaboration systems. In a world of patent litigation and other companies duking it out for ownership rights, this sits in an interesting spot. What does this mean for innovation in the collaboration space moving forward?
Last week was not only CEDIA Expo 2023, one of the largest trade shows for the residential side of AV, but also the very first Commercial Integrator Expo. They took place in the same space in Denver. So how was that first year? Starting an entire convention is not easy work, but does it have legs to stand on for next year and beyond? Discussing the vibe of both shows and what it means for future events.
