Size Matters

It’s time to get your regular dosage of news from the AV industry before ISE 2024 floods us all with new products and other releases. Joining us this week is Iffat Chaudhry from Involve, James King of the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine, and AV veteran Willie Franklin.

Midwich has bought The Farm. No, that’s not a euphemism. Global AV distributor Midwich has announced their acquisition of The Farm, a service provider. Midwich also acquired Starin back in 2020, which is why you’ll hear a few knocks towards one Chris Neto. We discuss what this purchase means for both companies moving forward.

Atlona simplifies control in smaller spaces. What they’re calling an “alternative to touch panels” is their AT-VKP-8E keypad control system. It has an electronic paper display and customizable layouts. Could we see more solutions like this to control systems? Looking at the importance of power consumption in AV solutions.

Extron has announced their NAV E 121 Encoder. This is part of their AV over IP series. Despite the small size, it has a wealth of performance power. Within the residential space, AV is best heard but not seen. Are we moving to a more “invisible” space when it comes to AV systems? A look at what this means for integrators.
