After coming back from the Memorial Day weekend, we’re refreshed and ready to get into the latest news coming out of the residential side of the AV industry. Joining us today is Vice President of Education and Training for CEDIA Samantha Ventura and Chief Content Officer (and Office Manager!) for CE Pro Jason Knott as we tackle the biggest residential stories this week has to offer.

CEDIA has released a white paper that’s all about the latest Wi-Fi standard, Wi-Fi 6. We take a look at what the white paper has to say and what Wi-Fi 6 can do for our market. Is it really, dare we say, a game-changer? Speaking of white papers, looking at the importance of education in the residential space and how dealers and integrators can take advantage of these webinars and guides.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic affecting businesses across the world, Best Buy is having a spectacular first quarter, retaining 81% of their sales since the outbreak started. What’s definitely helped them is the early switch to curbside-only and online sales. What integrators can learn from Best Buy’s model, and what businesses can do to stay ahead of the curve. Which of course leads to the ever-prescient conversation of recurring monthly revenue and if they are right for your business.

Finally, Samsung has expanded their line of home entertainment and outdoor displays. They are expecting to roll out these new displays later this year, in 55, 65 and 75-inch models providing a brightness level of 2000 nits. Finally, outdoor AV is getting a push from the big boys! Is it time to get really invested in outdoor home theater AV?

The Evolution of Projector Light Sources

Projector light sources have evolved from 1820s limelight to LED and laser technologies. Traditional lamps provided short-lived illumination, while LED and laser sources offer long lifespans, high color purity, and efficiency. RGB laser projectors offer UHD content color accuracy.
