Reach One, Teach One

There’s no denying that things are getting very real. But we will endeavor to continue what we do best, which is discussing the latest going-ons within the residential side of the AV industry. Joining us today is Principal and Founder of Fregosa Designs Rich Fregosa, General Manager of Product Management and Growth for GE Lighting Paul Williams, and CEO for Josh.ai Alex Capecelatro as we tackle the biggest residential space, mostly at the expense of Uncle Richie.

Savant Systems has entered into an agreement to purchase GE Lighting. Both Savant and GE are well known within our sphere. Still, this is a surprising deal. Luckily we happen to have Paul from GE Lighting with us to ask plenty of questions about what this means for the space as well as the two companies moving forward.

CEDIA and Emerald Expositions has announced they are cancelling CEDIA Expo 2020. While initially planned to take place September 8-12 in Denver’s Colorado Convention Center, it is currently being used as a medical care facility for COVID-19. While this news is certainly a big deal, it’s not entirely unprecedented. Emerald Expositions had previously cancelled every scheduled event for the first six months of 2020 following the COVID-19 pandemic. Even on this very show when a story involved CEDIA Expo it was more of a hypothetical that the show would go on unchanged. However, there are plans for a virtual experience coming in September. We take a look at what this means for both attendees and integrators as well as manufacturers, and what they hope to get out of a virtual show.

Projector light sources have evolved from 1820s limelight to LED and laser technologies. Traditional lamps provided short-lived illumination, while LED and laser sources offer long lifespans, high color purity, and efficiency. RGB laser projectors offer UHD content color accuracy.
