Keep Your Pants On

Whether you are at the office, in your car or being overly defensive about your pants while working at home, we are here to bring you the latest news coming out of the residential side of the AV industry. Joining us to do just that is CEO & Boss Lady for Integration Controls Jamie Breisemeister and Strategic Advisor for Snap One Hagai Feiner.

The Delta variant of COVID-19 has been affecting the way AV industry events have been planned, such as the lower numbers of exhibitors and attendees for CEDIA Expo 2021 just last week. In addition, HTSA has announced their suspension of live and in-person group events for 2021, Axpona rescheduled their event from late October to April of 2022 and Azione Unlimited’s fall conference will require proof of vaccination or negative results. Jamie was one of the many that still attended CEDIA Expo, so we gauge her experience of the show in this limited quantity and discuss what the near future of trade shows might have to be as we continue to work around the pandemic.

Parasol has launched the platform Parasol Anywhere allowing dealers to leverage excess capacity to solve customer issues around the globe. The company places it in similar vein to Uber, to which after authorization, participants can clock in via browser or app and be compensated for their time. Is this the next step of evolution for remote support? Looking at what this service can do for integrators.

Wakefield Research surveyed 500 executives to look at the state of remote working. 25% of respondents have said to fire someone due to errors made in a video call, and 83% in total have seen disciplinary actions due to poor performance during calls. They also discuss metrics of losing clients due to technical issues and missing deadlines. It seems like employees are still struggling with the technology of collaboration as the hybrid work model continues. Is there some way that the AV industry can lend a hand, or is this more deep rooted than giving everyone a better microphone and camera?
