Out Of Our Adolescence

What’s the anniversary gift for a number such as 300? Is it the fish-eye lens, as Matt might be getting into? He was looking a bit flatter last week during InfoComm 2021… Either way, we are here to look at the latest news coming out of the residential space of the AV industry. And with us to mark this momentous occasion is Southtown AV Owner Heather Sidorowicz, Thoughtful Integrations President Joe Whitaker and Principal of Fregosa Design Rich Fregosa.

Lutron has unveiled the RadioRA 3 wireless lighting control system. It has a brand new all-in-one processor powered over ethernet, new programming and is also backwards compatible with RA 2 and RA 2 Select. What do these innovations mean for the integrators who are trying to get it into the homes of their clients? What’s the difficulty in selling a lighting system as opposed to something slightly more tangible like a TV or audio system? Looking at what this means for the CI channel moving forward.

Is now the time to sell your integration business? That’s the question that one Jason Knott of CE Pro is asking. Hypothetically, we assume, but there is some merit in the situation. Buying opportunities exist for the first time in decades, and have been seen by companies like Bravas. Should integrators have an exit strategy when it comes to running your business? Taking a second to look back at your business and what plans can be made now for a future down the road.
