Left To Their Own Devices

As we inch ever closer to the end of another year, we still find the time to look at what’s going on in the residential side of the AV industry. Joining us to discuss the stories is Senior Vice President for Success & Sales at CEDIA Giles Sutton and Chief Content Officer at CE Pro Jason Knott.

We start off looking at a survey given to CE Pro readers and integrators about what they are looking for from AV software suppliers. This pertains to software tools that integrators would use for projects. What are the key features that everyone is asking for? We look at adjacent verticals and what would best fit the custom installation channel for integrators and customers alike.

Next we go into the home and discuss the many changes that make the quintessential smart home. Smart lights and security systems have made major contributions on how homeowners are spending on smart home solutions, expecting to exceed $100 billion by the end of 2021. ISE 2022 is going to continue their Smart Building Conference that reflects the latest concepts in smart home design. While the aforementioned smart lights and security are covered, what can integrators do about systems like media control? Looking at the solutions that make a home truly smart.

Finally, we talk once again about cybersecurity and protecting your AV devices. It’s something that is a bit of a shame how much we have to remind everyone to go over the basics, but as the lines between home and office are overlapping, it is ever-important to go over even just the basics. What can integrators do to ensure their clients are informed and safe from potential threats?
