Skating Where The Puck Is
Although only Tim went to CES physically, we had so much to talk about the show and its offerings that we essentially dedicated the episode to it. We are joined by Manager of Software Development at BlackWire Designs Seth Johnson and Executive Editor for Residential Tech Today Jeremy Glowacki.
First we look at Savant’s expansion of the Cync smart home exosystem through several new products at CES 2022. These include a thermostat and temperature sensor, outdoor security cameras and other smart lighting solutions. The other interesting fold in the story is the integration with Matter. We discuss the importance of these solutions and the interoperability side for customers and integrators alike.
Also part of CES was Samsung’s keynote discussing the importance of tackling sustainability issues within the technology sector. They are looking to reduce carbon emissions even further than they already have, utilize more recycled materials and include home energy monitoring for solutions. Is it up to our industry to start setting these sustainable practices in solutions to make things better? It’s easy to say we want to improve things, but what will it take for other companies to get on the same bandwagon as Samsung? Looking at what AV can do for this particular topic.
