Core Values
It’s time to look at the latest news coming out of the residential side of the AV industry, and discuss it with a panel of experts within the space. Joining us this week is Owner of Southtown AV Heather Sidorowicz and Business Development at CEDIA Giles Sutton.
The CEO of Azione Unlimited writes for CE Pro to tell integrators to “Get out of your ‘referral foxhole’ and start marketing!” That foxhole is hopefully metaphorical, instead talking about a call to action for both integrators to start marketing their services as well as suppliers to bring back solid co-op marketing programs. Matt gives a great breakdown of the old ways that dealers used to utilize co-op programs with integrators to incentivize their products to clients, allowing everyone to win in the process. So is it easy as just hitting a button and starting things up again? How do we market ourselves as integrators and our businesses?
We aren’t done with editorials! It’s that kind of news week. But this one is a familiar name, frequent residential philosopher Henry Clifford simply asks, “Do you have a cruise director?” Once again, not literally. He relates his experience watching the classic sitcom The Love Boat and how Lauren Tewes’ character Julie the Cruise Director would be in charge of keeping the guests entertained and giving a lively mood to the vessel. So how does that translate into the residential space? It’s all about maintaining a specific work culture and having a solid direction for your business, in a roundabout way. We discuss how to weave the mission statement of your business into the core values of the company.
Finally, we bury the lede well and good, talking about the clean energy provisions provided in the Inflation Reduction Act in the US and the effects it will have for integrators. Solar isn’t entirely unknown to most integrators in the CI channel, but it’s not quite as prevalent as smart home solutions. With the solar market value to rise exponentially by 2025, should integrators get their foot in the door?
