The Great Divide
It’s time to look at the latest stories coming out of the residential side of the AV industry, and discuss it among a panel of experts. We are joined by Powerhouse Alliance Executive Director Dennis Holzer and Executive Editor for CE Pro Jason Knott.
We start at a tale that most integrators dream of: A 21-second Facebook video results in a $30,000 installation. InSight Security in Alabama posted a video of a pulldown TV mount from MantelMount. The video then led directly to a job worth thirty thousand dollars. So what are the big factors here that turn a social post into tangible jobs? Are integrators using social media ‘correctly?’ Or are they like our own host Matt Scott, who have to fortify themselves even saying the words Tiktok or Instagram? Looking at the potential value for integrators to put themselves out there and show the world what AV is really capable of.
Next we look at the changing landscape for integrators when it comes to projects. Todd Anthony Puma and Mark Feinberg, the inseparable New York duo who were just on last week talk about the evolving residential space. What they are seeing is smaller projects becoming even smaller, while larger project’s resources are being diverted to other projects due to supply chain issues. Another part is while the divide grows between those small and large scale projects, the middle ground is drying up. So, what does this mean for the integrator of today? What, if anything, can we do to save the middle market?
