ResiWeek 426: Virtual Lighting

The video version of this episode can be found here.

Can You Beat THE SUN?

An eclipse may come near only every decade or so, but the news is ever eternal. But we’ll still cover the biggest stories coming out of the residential side of the AV industry. Joining us this week is Taft Stricklin of Just Add Power and Bob Archer from CE Pro.

We start with HTSA’s Spring Conference, and the topic of energizing the industry. We don’t need to tell you that the past few years were tough for businesses, and this show looked to reinvigorate the industry. How can integrators address the burnout caused by the pandemic and move forward?

Next we discuss the potential of a virtual showroom for human-centric lighting. That isn’t to say you need to pull out a whole headset rig and tap into Unreal Engine to deliver it. Even just a 360° demonstration can have a great impact on customers looking for lighting solutions. We just had this converation about the pendulum of showrooms being either useless or the most important thing for an integrator. Is a virtual showroom the best of both worlds?

Speaking of lighting, Jasco is looking to provide circadian lighting as a standard in a Texas community. The community of Jubilee is looking to provide an entire solution of lighting like this for each space. We look at what this means for Jasco and how lighting could move forward as a whole with this project.

Finally, some of us are asking: Why are you CEDIA certified? Certification is something that we’ve talked about recently on the commercial side at AVWeek, so now we look at it from the CI channel side. How important is showing those credentials for clients?
