Oops, All Sonos
This is a special kind of ResiWeek. We have our seemingly tri-annual pairing of New York’s Todd Anthony Puma from The Source Home Theater and Mark Feinberg of Home Theater Advisors. Not only that, but we’ve got a lot to talk about concerning Sonos, a well-established brand within the residential space.
We start off talking about the backlash of the Sonos’ recent updates to their app. According to users across the internet, there are features missing, accessibility issues and broken connectivity. This connects to a larger problem for integrators when systems have troubles. When things break outside of integrator control, the blame goes to those installing the hardware. What can we do to mitigate concerns and work around these issues until it gets sorted out?
Sonos has released their financial reports for the second quarter of 2024. Revenues have declined by 16.9% in this quarter alone. This dip is not unexpected after the pandemic boosted sales for many products like Sonos. We look at the numbers and what this means not just for them but the custom installation space at large.
Finally, Sonos has released a new line of headphones. These Sonos Ace headphones look and sound great according to reviews, though some features seem to be missing. Those familiar with the video game industry have heard a question like this before- Are we running into an issue with releasing a product on the potential rather than functionality right out of the box? Will consumers care?
