It’s Not A Truck
Make sure your internet tubes are well maintained, because you’re about to get a helping of news from the residential side of the AV industry. Joining us this week is Managing Director of Home Management Business Unit for Nice Paul Williams and AVNation Producer Mitchell Toolen.
It sounds contradictory, but we look at the light commercial space for the AV industry. We have talked time and time again about the ‘resimercial’ space, and the blurring of lines for integrators between these sides. Can integrators make it by being ‘purely’ residential? What does it take to get into the light commercial space?
Speaking of niches, we discuss the evolution of private cinema. These luxurious spaces are a chance for integrators to really show their stuff and express what AV is capable of. At the same time, these many-figure spaces are few and far between. How big is that divide between a private cinema and a home theater space for end-users?
CEDIA discusses the proposed Cyber Trust Mark program by the FCC, saying that integrators are a key role in advancing security in smart home solutions. The organization has been active and vocal as this new standard starts to take shape. What does it mean for an aspect of our industry to become more regulated? Are we at a point where the people making these decisions even know what we’re talking about?
